Chromebook Repair Request & Help Page
The Carthage Central School District would like to ensure that all our students have access to their online educational resources, and will provide repair to any Chromebooks issued to students, provided by the school.
Chromebooks/Chargers in need of repair must be brought to the school’s designated room after a repair form is submitted. A student will then receive a loaner while the broken Chromebook is repaired. The Chromebook will be returned to the school's designated room after it is fixed.
Middle and High School Students:
Please check your email for updates on your Chromebook's repair status.
The Repair Form requires authentication with a CCSD Google account.
Use the form to report students' Chromebook problems.
For issues with teacher presentation devices or loaners, please use the ticket system.
Cleaning
Disconnect all cables first.
Do not spray cleaning solutions directly on screen or keyboard. Spray water or mild solution on a cloth for cleaning.
Do not use abrasive solutions, e.g. alcohol or ammonia, or cloths, e.g. scrubbing sponges.
The use of a microfiber cloth is recommended.
Common Issues
Many issues are solved by updating or restarting the Chromebook.
Chromebook won't turn on
Plug into the power charger, then try to turn it on.
Try a different outlet.
Press the refresh button ⟳ and power button simultaneously.
No Mouse
Restart the Chromebook.
Keyboard typing incorrect letters
Open settings by clicking the bottom right area where time is displayed.
Change the Keyboard setting back to US.
Orientation
Log into the Chromebook, then open the settings.
In the search field type display.
Change the orientation to 0°.
Mic/Camera not working
Go to chrome://settings/content.
Click on Microphone/Camera and check that the site is not on the Not allowed list.
Allow microphone/camera for the site.
Check that the volume is not too low. Click on the arrow next to the volume bar to open the "Input" volume setting.
Website not loading
Restart your Chromebook. If there is an update waiting to be installed it will be applied and restore normal functionality.
Visit example.com. You should see a screen that looks similar to the one below.
