Hello,

Welcome to JROTC for Leadership Education and Training (LET) Levels 1-4.  For detailed information about the JROTC program including co-curricular activities please go to our JROTC department website using the link on the bottom of this page.  You can find specific JROTC plicy and procedure information int eh Cadet Handbook link also at the bottom of this page.  Thank you.

Mission, Goals, and Curriculum: Below describes the mission and goals of JROTC and the curriculum this year.

The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to be better cirtizens.  The program teaches students the value of leadership, service to community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment while instilling self-esteem, and self-discipline.  In addition to offering classroom instruction for full course credit, JROTC also provides volunteer, after-school co-curricular activities like color guard team, military drill team, physical fitness team, and adventure activities.  JROTC is NOT a military recruiting tool and there is NO military obligation for being in JROTC.

JROTC Goals:

     -   Promote good citizenship and appreciation of ethical values

    -    Develop leadership abilities

    -    Develop teamwork skills

    -    Improve written and verbal communication skills

    -    Improve physical fitness and well being

    -    Provide incentive to live drug-free

    -    Strengthen positive self-motivation

    -    Provide a historical perspective of the military services

    -    Promote importance of graduating from high school

Leadership Education and Training (LET) Level 1 - 1 Unit

Grade 9, 10, 11, 12

This is the JROTC introductory course.  LET Level 1 focuses on teaching citizenship, leadership theory and application, teamwork skills, communication skills, study skills, conflict resolution, physical fitness and well being, and financial planning.  Also stress patriotic themes like properly respecting the flag and the American military and civilian traditions, customs, and courtesies.

Leadership Education and Training (LET) Level 2/3 - 1 Unit

Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite - LET Level 1

The empahsis in LET Level 2/3 is on applied leadership.  Cadets will assume greater leadership responsibilities and learn the finer techniques of leadership, including delegation of authority and supervison of subordinates.  LET level 2/3 will also emphasize career planning, time and financial management, and oral presentation skills.  Goal setting , decision making and critical thinking will also be explored.  All second and third year cadets will take the LET Level 2/3 curriculum this year.

Leadership Eucation and Training (LET) Level 4 - 1 Unit

Grades 12

Prerequisite - LET Level 1 and LET Level 2/3

This course is the culmination of teh three previous JROTC LET levels.  The course provides cadets more opportunities to exercise leadership techniques taught in the prvious years.  LET level 4 cadets will mentor and provide guidance to underclass cadets.  They will also teach some of the LET 1 and  LET 2/3 classes.  The LET 4 curriculum also emphasizes management, motivation, comunication, and teaching skills.  Initiative, responsibility and self-discipline are expected here.

Grading Policy:

Class Participation - 40%

-Cadet daily work ethic

-Level of participation in group projects and class discussions

-Community service project involvement

-Merits/demerits

-Initiative, spirit, and responsibility

Tests/Quizes - 35%

-Written tests/quizes on lesson material

-Handson test-physical fitness, drill, etc

-Failure to make-up exam results in grade of "0"

Homework - 10%

-Lesson homework

-Essays (one 300 word essay evry quarter)

-Portfolio

-Late Homework results in points taken off final grade

Uniform Wear and Appearence - 15%

-Weekly uniform inspection (Cadets will wear uniforms every Wednesday)

-Cadets will be given one alibi from wearing the uniform on a uniform day during each 10 week marking period.  Every time a cadet fails to wear the uniform after the one alibi day the cadet will receive a grade of "0".

-Cadets who refuse to wear the uniform at all, will be disenrolled from JROTC.  Cadets who consistently fail to wear the unifrom will fail JROTC!!
